He was, however, alone in that stance since on the other side there were Diana Dragutinovic, Minister of Finance and Dejan Soskic, Governor of the National Bank of Serbia who insisted that ‘we should stick to agreement made with the IMF’.

(07.09.2010) D&B: Lot of work left in EU chapters
In the latest issue of the International Risk & Payment Review, Dun & Bradstreet still assigns Croatia a DB3d rating with a positive outlook. This places Croatia in the group of countries with a mild business risk, Zagreb-based Bonline, exclusive D&B representative for Croatia and BH, reports.
The possibility of doing business with Croatian companies is still under scrutiny due to reduced lending activities of local banks, increased number of bankruptcies and a vulnerable economic environment. Corporate payment remained at the same level, partly thanks to stricter lending terms by suppliers, but also thanks to government’s new measures that have improved payment in the public sector, the press release reads.
Increased costs in combination with reduced income resulted with a higher than planned budget deficit, which changed the economic situation in the country. On a positive note, Croatia and Hungary signed a partnership agreement for building an interconnection gas pipeline that will reduce Croatia’s dependence on Gazprom. Croatia also closed another two chapters in the EU accession talks, but a lot more has to be done in some chapters, such as judiciary and fundamental rights.

Former economy minister Davor Stern Boris Petar Keiser and Janko Gogolja, should form the Central European Clean Energy Fund, for investing in renewable energy resources. The founders plan to raise between EUR 50m and EUR 100m.
The idea for founding such a fund came about because there are clean energy projects in Croatia, but there is no capital. “Investors don’t like small, fragmented projects. The fund would integrate them and help draw investors,” Stern said, adding that the prospectus for the projects had just been completed.
All three partners have experience in energy or finance. Stern is ex-CEO of Ina, Kaiser worked for American Westinghouse, while Gogolja is an investment banker. Apart from Croatia, the fund would be investing in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania.
